Choreography: Choreography and movement direction by George Balanchine.

Production: Directed by S. A. Samosud.

Premiere: September 15, 1923, Maly Opera Theater, Petrograd. Danced by the resident ballet troupe.

Cast: VISION: Uspenskaya. MARCH: Orlova, Uspenskaya, Kobeleva, Dikushina, Baranovich, Komarov, Rykhliakov, Chesnakov, Kobelev, Shuisky.

Note: Slonimsky quotes a document by Balanchine summarizing his work as consisting of 'two apparitions in the first act, of the choral group, of the Tsaritsa of Shemakhan, of Dodon and the pupils in the second act, general march in the third act' (Slonimsky, p. 71).
