247. PAS DE TROIS CLASSIQUE

Music: By Léon Minkus (from Paquita, 1881).

Choreography: By George Balanchine.

Production: Costumes by Jean Robier.

Premiere: August 9, 1948, Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.

Cast: Rosella Hightower, Marjorie Tallchief, André Eglevsky.

Note: Balanchine considered his Pas de Trois Classique essentially a restaging of Petipa's pas de trois from Paquita. He changed some steps for the 1951 New York City Ballet version; the ballet possibly contains additional original Balanchine choreography, as is usual in his remounting of the classics.

New Productions by Balanchine Companies:1951, New York City Ballet, titled Pas de Trois, with costumes by Karinska.

Archival Video: George Balanchine Foundation Interpreters Archive (complete ballet), forthcoming; (Marjorie Tallchief solo), forthcoming.

Revisions: 1951, New York City Ballet: Variation originally danced by Marjorie Tallchief revised.
