Note
The second movement was choreographed on Marina Svetlova, who was injured immediately before the first performance and was replaced by Razoumova. Balustrade received just three performances.
In 1972, for the New York City Ballet Stravinsky Festival, Balanchine choreographed Violin Concerto (since 1973 called Stravinsky Violin Concerto), an entirely new work to this music performed in practice clothes without scenery. (See FESTIVALS DIRECTED BY BALANCHINE.)
