Note
The sections of the twelve-tone score are titled ‘Threat,’ ‘Danger,’ ‘Fear,’ ‘Catastrophe.’ The music was performed twice without pause.
THE FIRST TIME used non-balletic vocabulary possibly inspired by Laban. In THE SECOND TIME, a grisly surgery in pantomime, dancers were costumed in bandages and as cadavers. At the end, klieg lights were directed at the spectators, momentarily blinding them.
